BE STILL

BE STILL

A tip or two for thee
It’s not all about me
I’m randomly depressed
Easily accessed
My heart, an open book
If you care to take a look
A tale of synergy
Godly energy
His glory I proclaim
Love, in Jesus’ name
Grateful lessons learned
Too many bridges burned
A sinner, yes I am
Salvation from the Lamb
I often lose my way
Until I hear Him say
“BE STILL MY PRECIOUS CHILD”
“COME SIT WITH ME AWHILE”
All wrongs are righted then
I end where He begins
With joyful words I share
Allegiance I declare
His light shows me the way
Guidance night and day
His tender warm embrace
Mercy, filled with grace
Peace, a gift for all
He awaits an earnest call

Psalm 4:2-4 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)

2O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? How long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.
3But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.
4Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

STATE OF OUR UNION

STATE OF OUR UNION

Seek not
Approval of earthly systems
Churches
Bureaucracies
Society
All
Controlled by mortal man
The word of God is clear
Through Christ we shall find our way
Blessed gift of guidance from His Interpreter
He speaks to us in many ways
Sometimes subtle
Through a dream
A persistent thought
Deftly woven into the actions of another
Sadly I relay
Our modern civilization
Revolves around vanity
Like cattle
We follow the latest fad
Swallow the new miracle cure
Doped populace
Much easier to manipulate
Pharmaceutical cash cow of numbing placebos
Advised by Dr. “Do you have insurance”?
Did I just say that?
Our leaders
We depend upon so blindly
To defend us from all things un-American
Reaping millions from the industries
That keeps us in the dark
The time is now to listen
Observe with keen rationalization
The immorality
Hopelessness
Degradation of our ethical values
You hear His voice within
At night as you try to sleep
Frustrated from immunity to the sedatives
When quiet invades your chaos
He stands at the door and knocks
What more proof is needed to convince you?
He is the answer to all those nagging questions
That churn within your gut

Colossians 3:4-6 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)

4When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
5Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
6For which things' sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

GODLY VISION

GODLY VISION

I can offer no rational explanation
For this tale I share with you
A dream of Christ’s return
One sunny winter’s day
Quite awestruck by stunning realism
Glorious profundity
It all began in a dentist chair
A close second in my world
To my dread of dry heaves
No offense intended
My dear Dr. Wall
A villainous stranger hovered over me
Forcing strange objects into my mouth and nose
Without warning
Commotion erupted in the streets
Panic stricken populace
Terrified by a gigantic foreign planet
Burnt orange
Crater pocked
Looming menace in the abruptly blackened sky
I leapt from the reclining torture rack
Bolting through the door
Once outside
Terror filled hysteria
Throngs of humanity
Desperately seeking answers to this apparition
I began to explain the book of Daniel
Sealed prophecies of coming mysteries
The moon appeared in the distance
Blood red orb
Casting an ominous scarlet glow
I followed a spastic mob
Into a peculiar church
Odd ritual in progress
Robed and bearded priests barked instructions
My instincts screamed of blasphemy
As I realized the vile nature of their deception
In haste, I escaped this evil trap
After crossing a massive sand dune
Approaching a shoreline
I found myself in a row boat
An angel then appeared
In the form of a beautiful brunette maiden
“Stroke with all your might towards the light” said she
“Never looking back”
“Ignore the orcas that surround you”
As my skiff sliced through the treacherous ebony deep
The beacon grew more brilliant
Suddenly
I heard the voice of Jesus
“FEAR NOT MY PRECIOUS CHILD”
“FOR I AM WITH YOU”
“COME TO ME”
“MY KINGDOM YOU WILL SHARE”
Indescribable peace
Filled my eager soul
I shouted encouragement to those around me
Many were struggling
As they sank beneath the briny waves
Have faith
Be strong said I
Your hope is drawing nigh
I heard thousands pleading for mercy
Tears flowing down their contorted cheeks
Plucked from the gloomy death
As their prayers of lamentation were answered
Millions shouted obscenities
Defiant as they met their doom
I soon arrived at a house of refuge
Resembling a hotel of mammoth stature
My plush room had a balcony
Where I witnessed the unfolding miracles
In comfort of blessed assurance
Ancient scriptures came to pass
Before my astonished eyes
A ringing phone interrupted the sacred stillness
Satan on the line
His rasping voice
Akin to a telemarketer
Hawking sales pitch
Bidding me to dial into his web
As I slammed down the receiver
Instructing him to get behind me
My son then awakened me
From this impressive vision
My cherished reader
Absorb my saga with however many grains of salt you wish
I firmly believe this trance
To be a sign from God Almighty
Harbinger of close proximity
To our King’s return
Arouse heed within you
Act accordingly
Dismiss me or respond
Salvation is a personal choice.

SHIFTING SANDS

SHIFTING SANDS

Middle East chess match
Growing evermore explosive
Hamas
Assumes control of the Palestinian cause
Green flag of determination
Iran continues their dogged path to destiny
Fanatic belief of their key role
Trigger of Armageddon
Israelis mortal enemies
Sharpen swords of destruction
Pawns align as predicted
Before our very eyes
Ancient prophecies
Fall on millions of deaf ears
For soon he shall emerge
Little Horn
Antichrist
Cunning man of perdition
Charlatan in the name of peace
His plan of duplicity
Counterfactual seven year peace with the Jews
Shifting sands of truth
This too shall come to pass
Focus on Jerusalem
Key to pivotal encroachment
As the days of woe begin

27Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
28And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.
29For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

NEW DAY BEGINS

NEW DAY BEGINS

Early morning ritual
Quiet time I treasure
As my day begins
Hint of dawn’s arrival
Eerie blue haze disrupts the darkness
Fresh cup of coffee
Steaming
Rich
Invigorating
Slowly revives my sleepy mind
Complete stillness
Precious solitude
I gather momentum for the approaching challenges
Daily visit with Oswald Chambers
Godly man of divine wisdom
His penetrating words of guidance
Resounding holy lesson
Always right on time
Stiffened sore muscles
Remind me of previous works exertion
Melting down the drain
Of a piping hot shower
Sounds of skeletal atrophy
Creaking snaps within my necks foundation
Echo through my skull
Human weakness
Physical dysfunction from the hard driving years
Wrong paths of glaring poor choices
Youthful defiance forced me to explore
In the silence of this magic moment
I feel Him
Powerfully
Encompassing
Reassuring
His patient arms hold me close
Inspirational nourishment for my hungry soul
My focus on His plan
Thrilled to carry out my Saviors wishes
Hope transcends my mortal disadvantages
I dedicate my all
To my redeemer Jesus Christ

18And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation

2And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.
3For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.
4And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.

MOONSTRUCK

MOONSTRUCK

Subtle realizations
Creep within my aging brain
My moonstruck past
Weakened by my perceived need for “her”
Fragile poet’s heart
Effortlessly trampled
Shattered with ease
By passions sensitive disease
Trust comes so easy
Discernment
Much more difficult achievement
Special people
Live within my head
Impulsive words I have said
Dark at times
As the depths of the sea
Expose my inner longing
A romantic place to be
Spirit shakedown
Kindred soul I seek
Her nurturing caress
Delicate
Milky smooth
Soft hands cupping my cheeks
Special times of day
Dawn
Entwined in lovers sway
Pursuance forges on
Slowly
My human fallibility recedes
Darting pains of loneliness
Absorbed by God’s objectives
Bachelorhood
Perhaps a fortiori
So it shall be

24To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
25Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
26For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adultress will hunt for the precious life.

NOTE: THE WORD “HER” DOES NOT REFER TO A PARTICULAR WOMAN. IT COVERS A BROAD STROKE OF LUSTFUL EXPERIENCES IN MY PAST.

Condescending tones
Snap like broken bones
Sophisticated naiveté
Grandiose hubris
Daily grind through slipshod façade
Witness to routine hurt

Unable to convert
Alter another’s chosen course
Quite often
I encounter defiance
Blue funk malaise
Ballsy brass contempt
Brazen disrespect
For all things virtuous
My earnest prayers
Lifting up those who suffer
Be it consciously or not
Misplaced in life’s pandemonium
Clinging frantically
To their egotistic swagger
As I wipe the acerbic spit
From my brooding face
My heart
Optimisms hemorrhage
Flowing undeterred
Persistent in my commission
Offering citation
Paradigm of He who saved me
Love my neighbor as myself
Grace
Hope
Salvation
Bursting from His holy light
My focus is to share

SORROW

SORROW

My how sorrow rejuvenates
Passionately stirring moth eaten psyche
Human idiosyncrasy
Pompous narcissism
Flagrant ego entanglement
Compressed by remorseful blight
Once the anguish wanes
Unhealthy tethers wither
Replaced by consuming prudence
Speechless resolution
Winding trail of dependent relationships
Swept clean
Of clinging rotten vines
This disciple
Must make the journey alone
Integrated oneness with God
My puerile docility
Honed by crestfallen pride

BEDTIME

BEDTIME

I find myself in a tranquil trance
Bedtime’s quiet repose
My aging body
Aggravated mechanics of habitual overuse
Resting from an honest days work
Tonight
My soul remains still
As the world continues its maniacal spiral
I ponder reasons why
Digital garbage I allow
To invade my mellow space
Breaking news of riots
Carnage unprecedented
Bird flu outbreaks
Hollywood
Has finally lost their mind
Nikkei financial crisis
Suicide causes a stampede
Greed inhales civility
Bin Laden threatens us still
His macabre figment persona
Produced by elitist sleaze balls
Yet another brick in the autocratic wall
France shall nuke all terrorists
“Targeted strikes” response
Iran prepares for apocalypse
Boldly paving the path
Convinced of eminent return
Mahdi
The mystical twelfth Imam
Shia Muslim messiah
Alaskan volcanic drum beat
Moscow plunged into a deep freeze
Glacial death at -28c
Fantastic weather extremes
Wicked stepchildren of global warming
Mans accelerated decline
The infamous “Fat Lady” begins her song
My prayers remain facile
Elated for God’s peace
May many find His solace
As labor pains increase

3If anyone teaches false doctrines and does not agree to the sound instruction of our Lord Jesus Christ and to godly teaching, 4he is conceited and understands nothing. He has an unhealthy interest in controversies and quarrels about words that result in envy, strife, malicious talk, evil suspicions 5and constant friction between men of corrupt mind, who have been robbed of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.
6But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

NEVER LOOK BACK

NEVER LOOK BACK

There exists such a fine line
Not visible to the human eye
Spiritual boundary
Deep within this humble disciple
I ponder its fracture profoundly
As I separate fact from fiction
Forgiveness is my nature
As I am filled with Holy Spirit
I thank God daily for this gift
To feel another’s emotions
Place myself within their unpleasant shoes
Respond as Christ would
To human disappointment
Calculated cruelty
Blatant selfishness of others
Journey beyond the source of heartache
In constant progress to His light
Acceptance
Discernment
Wisdom from the painful lesson
Accompany me onward
To my next level of growth
I must leave the past behind
Never looking back
And those who are caught in the web of deceit
Unable to change their perception
Such choices are beyond my assistance
Goodbye misguided one
No animosity lurks within me
I pray for your deliverance
That peace shall find your hardened heart
May The Father bless and keep you on your path

Mark 11:24-26 (King James Version)

24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
25And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses.
26But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

THE LONG WAY HOME

THE LONG WAY HOME

Easter Sunday 1959
I began
Precious gift of essence
Bill and Dot’s bundle of joy
Robust baby boy
I vaguely remember snippets
Early days of existence
A house painter named “Speedy Gonzalez”
Resulting purple masterpiece
Created with pride
On the shade side of the home
Watching the Beatles on Ed Sullivan Show
My how the girls were agitated
I wanted to be Ringo
A star
Long haired millionaire
My Mother’s gentle question “why”
As I stood far away from the TV set
“The man said PLEASE STAND BACK”
Now how can I recall such a moment?
Walking in the wet grass to see Dr. McDaniel
My feet wrapped in plastic bags
We were a one car family
My Dad brought home the bacon
The powerful aroma of paper mill chemicals
“Smells like bread and butter” he would say
Tricking my sister Lisa
Into drinking dirty mop water
I told her it was “fizzies”
She has yet to forget that mean prank
We called my youngest sister “Buggy”
Spared from the brunt of my mischievous wrath
Since she was just a baby
Playing fast pitch baseball at age five
Learning how to bunt
I took the first ball square on the chin
Coach McCann urging me to “get back in there”
Man I love that game
Boy Scout campouts at Pushmataha
“Sir Bear” our fearless leader
Sleeping underneath the stars
Barefoot games of tackle
I ran the ball like a tank
Catching snakes with my friend Dale
Sloshing through the South Alabama creeks
Brim fishing with Greg
With night crawlers from behind the dog shed
This day I see the sacrifice
Masked struggles of my loving parents
To provide a descent life
Amazing
How my road has been so twisted
It seems I took the long way home

TRUE MEASURE

TRUE MEASURE

This day I am reminded
In the throes of debilitating illness
Agitated state of weaknesses
Meek
Humbled
The violent stomach flu
Can death possibly be more painful?
In the crashing pitch of disgorgement
Swells of miserable retching
Roiling regurgitation of viral septicity
Dreaded dry heaves
In these very moments
When I am most vulnerable
Or as I PERCEIVE myself to be
Valuable lessons penetrate me
In the solitude of oneness with my maker
Intimate conversation
Powerful nuggets of wisdom
Come hailing down upon my weary head
Soothing glimmers of hope
The shore comes into view
His Counselor has my undivided attention
Thoughts of Peter’s courage
Turned to sudden fear
“Lord, save me!”
I hear myself repeating
Why do I doubt?
Human reasoning cannot explain
The simple case in point
My eyes must remain focused
Firmly on Jesus Christ
Despite earthly setbacks
Irregardless of tribulation
This is the true measure of a Disciple

31And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

11:11

11:11

So uncanny
This strange manifestation
I have grown accustomed to the peculiar presence
A subtle glance at a clock
Simple measure of moments
Be it Central Standard
Eastern
Daylight Savings
Even International
A.M or P.M.
While riding in my car
Working on my computer
Pouring a cup of coffee
Wherever I encounter a timepiece
Seven years of unpredictable chronology
I am greeted by 11:11
Coincidental most will say
I know better
Most likely premonition
The truth shall be revealed
What prompts this mystical occurrence?
My intrigue blooms with interest
Perhaps the time of my death
Moment of rebirth
Precise instant of my Holy gift
Defining climax
My eyes opened with redemption
Awakened from the dark coma of human failure
Whatever rationalization shall arise
No doubts remain in my open mind
Divine intervention swirls throughout this mystery
That is good enough for me

50Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
51Behold, I shew you a mystery; we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
52In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

TABOO

TABOO

My heart grieves for our country
We
Human Americans
Severely altered states
Hardly united
Children of God Almighty
Have allowed the unthinkable
Our Savior Jesus Christ
Forsaken
Publicly “Taboo”
Forced from circulation
Prohibited from our schools
Locked out of our courtrooms
Banned from our workplace
No longer welcome at our sporting events
We have even shunned His holy name from our pagan holidays
What exactly is an “XMAS”?
Painted eggs
Chocolate bunnies
Annual exercise in futility
Misled congregations
Filled to Fire Marshall Capacity
Self centered rituals
Going through the motions
Miss the true meaning of RESURRECTION
Empirical Super “Churches”
Celebrate over flowing offering plates
In step with the Halleluiah Chorus
Jolly fat elf
Showers our children with toys
Material impedimenta
An adorned fir tree
Symbolic of Golgotha timber?
We conjure up tooth fairies
Dress up our kids as demons, wizards, witches, ghosts
Celebration of the dead
Cartoons glorify black magic
Violence
Aggression
Reality Television
Orgy of fleshly temptation
Young bespectacled warlocks become icons
We worship rock stars and professional athletes
“Celebrities” walk on water
Corporate giants
Reap ridiculous profits from our ignorance
Righteousness
Replaced by Fiat currency
Doomed technological idolatry
Twelve Step circles
Cringe at the mention of His name
The very source of all “higher power”
He
Who gave His life for us all
Dismissed as offensive
How can this be?
Our sick misguided society
Wayward lost souls
Gripped firmly in Satan’s claws
The “FALLING AWAY” has begun
Apostasy
We have lost our way to the truth
Blind
Numb
Mesmerized by vile hypnosis
“Political correctness” my ass!
Who do we think we are?
These sincere words shall step on some toes
So be it
This day I stand affirmed
HE IS
LORD OF LORDS
SON OF GOD
REDEEMER
THE LAMB
I praise His precious name in triumph

2 Thessalonians 2:2-4 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
Public Domain

2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Fiat, irredeemable paper ticket-token or electronic-checkbook money (U.S. dollars)
Where does money come from; how does it originate?
Commodity money (a medium of exchange) is an invention of the market; it evolves. Market participants want that which is used for money to have the lowest transaction costs when transferring wealth geographically and over time. The market has determined that gold is the most efficient money, then silver. The reason the market chooses gold-as-money is because it is the commodity for which the buy/sell spread increases the least as ever-greater quantities are offered for sale. Because it takes work to create commodity money, it is said to have “intrinsic value.”
An arbitrary (fiat) invention. It is created out of nothing by banks and central banks and made legal (with legal tender, a.k.a. “forced tender,” laws) by politicians with whom they have colluded. Because it takes no work to create fiat money, it is said to have no “intrinsic value.” With fiat money, there is no limit as to how much can be created, and it always eventually becomes worthless.

TROPHY WIFE

TROPHY WIFE

It seems I stand corrected
My life has been a sham
Valiant struggle for “stuff”
Meaningless possessions
Trinket recognition from my fellow blind mice
Fueled by mass quantities of vodka
The "perfect" job
Corporate specimen on the fast track
With 90 hour workweek stamina
Employee of the century
Five bedroom house in the suburbs
Luxurious trappings
Brand new shiny car
Precious children that loved me dearly
Trophy wife
Clinging to my arm
So beautiful and delicate
Yeah man
I was ALL THAT with her by my side
Epitome of success
Father of the year honors
"Perfect" husband
Envy of all things male
On top of a hollow world
And slowly dying inside
It took a mighty crash
Disintegration of each and every dream
Resulting in complete helpless rubble
Humiliated
Unglued
Shattered
Shell of a man without a soul
Struck down by my own arrogant lust
Praise to God the Father
This day I am born again
With the grace of Jesus Christ
His gentle guiding hand
I started all over again from scratch
Mended one day at a time
With powerful lessons of deliverance
Redeemed in His likeness
Showered in rays of peaceful happiness
Blessed with a gift of rejoicing prose
Assigned a task to share my amazing trip
For all the world to see

1 Peter 1:22-24 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)

22Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
23Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
24For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

The contrast between the two is drastic
Pronounced antithesis

Fuchsia cerulean swirls
Unique blends of breathtaking complexion
Absence of fine lines
Through eyes of blessed clarity
As do I
Harmony flows within me
No sharp urges nagging
Exertion to always be right

NEW YEARS DAY 2006

NEW YEARS DAY 2006

I ponder things to come as I sip my first cup of coffee
Reflections of last year
WOW!
What a wild ride for me personally
I have changed in so many ways
God reconstructs from the ground floor up
His blessings and countenance
So much more than I deserve
Thank you Father
All around me, resolutions are announced
So many fade away
Within a few days
Mine are simple
I will follow Jesus Christ
Honor and praise Him with all my heart
Love my neighbor as myself
Spread hope

“4And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”

“One like a Son of Man”
“9 I, John, your brother and companion in the suffering and kingdom and patient endurance that are ours in Jesus, was on the island of Patmos because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10On the Lord's Day I was in the Spirit, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet, 11which said: "Write on a scroll what you see and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea."
“12I turned around to see the voice that was speaking to me. And when I turned I saw seven golden lamp stands, 13and among the lamp stands was someone "like a son of man,"[b]dressed in a robe reaching down to his feet and with a golden sash around his chest. 14His head and hair were white like wool, as white as snow, and his eyes were like blazing fire. 15His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and his voice was like the sound of rushing waters. 16In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth came a sharp double-edged sword. His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. “
“17When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: "Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. “
19"Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later. 20The mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand and of the seven golden lamp stands is this: The seven stars are the angels[c] of the seven churches, and the seven lamp stands are the seven churches.”
