BORROWED STAGE

Legacy of literary prowess
As good as my last verb
So few have the nerve
Drifting on a sea of public scrutiny
Your thoughts
Burn inside me deeply
Blasting through my minds sarcastic wit
Words
They flow so easily
Almost criminal
Often cynical
Aiming for subliminal
I’d like it if you dig it
However
It’s not my pointed purpose
Merely spitting truth
Trail of good intentions
On this borrowed stage

UNTITLED

Decommissioned flower
She charges by the hour
A whiff of her perfume
No innocence presumed

Aphrodisiac

Stout French Roast
Freshly ground
Distinct gurgling sound
Pungent aphrodisiac
Fills the morning air
Breakfast of a warrior
Riddled with despair
Time has wasted memory
Chemicals leave a blank and bloody trail
As if I were for sale
One foot planted firmly in hell
May 19th, 2010
Washington DC
Early evening flight
Above the mighty Pentagon
From the air it looks so harmless
Unassuming
Cunning lair
Fierce power lurks inside
In terrifying potions
She wonders why he broods
Portrays such melancholy gloom
Staring at the ultimate war room
Black light in a darkened chamber
He has no intentions
Of tipping his mental hand
Dear Father…..
Is help coming soon?
For I grow weak and weary
As I herald your triumphant return…..

DEEDS

A participle dangles
A verb
Screams in pain
Zero absolution
It’s driving me insane
You smile
As if you truly understand
Yet not a single clue
Have you?
It’s not about the words you say
Instead
The deeds you do……..

BALANCE

It’s all about balance
The fine art of dancing on a razors edge
It’s not about winning or losing
It’s about simply being
For I lose
The moment she believes
That I have won.....

ALL THINGS VIBRANT

Frosty sunset
Nuclear spring
The crux of all things vibrant
Sway freely in the ebony zephyr
For it is written children
Rumors of war surround us
Strange signs in the heavens
Shall stir our wayward souls
When our deeds are said and done
In the mirror we stand alone
Such pretty painted faces
Mask our gut wrenching fear
Good news if you dare to seek Him
The Christ…..the only way
Enough said from this aging word man
I believe in love
Digest this as you must
And may we all find His peace

SONG ABOUT A NIGHTMARE

She admires her well groomed cuticles
He swims in pharmaceuticals
Stroking through the bull shit
Pretending to be content with it
Three times the dose
Close to comatose
Osmosis from the crowd
Screaming zeal out loud
Writhing to the band
As if they truly understand
Dreams of glory pale
Reality exhales
Clinging to such hopeful thoughts
Deep inside
Quite distraught
It doesn’t matter why
Damn sure doesn’t matter who
If they only knew
How this story ends…………
