SURROGATE PASSION
Surrogate passion
Selfish ignorance of my sacred vows
Safe in suburbia’s womb
Yet so discontent
Restless lamentation
Always seeking more
False solace in a bottle
Foolish gluttony of a sick husband
Simply unable to accept
Life’s precious abundance
Wired for self destruction
Alcoholic aneurism
Depressive dementia
Brutal lessons learned
Scholastic basket case
Plunged into the depths of hell
Suicidal basement
Looking back through the haze
My errors glaring salient
Gentle hand of God
Plucked me from the abyss
This day I am restored
Eternal contradistinction
Bursting with indebted love
Unconditional optimism
I wait for her in silence
Dear destined kindred rib
In forlorn anticipation
Critical need
Never to repeat my sins
Respect
Cherished satisfaction
Wed in blissful favor
In honor of His grace
